HISTORY OF THE ONLINE EVENTS
As you all know, we've all been through some difficult times in recent years, some places and people worse than others, with a lot of folk suffering very significantly. Three of us lived in a city that was one of the most locked down in the world, and despite the media downplaying the negative psychological and emotional effects, many many people were in deep distress.
It's easy to assume that online events will be a very poor substitute for in-person meetings, and of course for some people the resonance provided by neurologies interacting in the same room can never be replaced. However, having very limited options we gave online events a try at the start of that challenging time. Much to our surprise, they were a LOT better than we'd ever imagined. It's hard sometimes to admit when you were wrong, but well, yep, it turns out that online events can actually be pretty darn wonderful.
WHAT WE RUN ONLINE
Life provided an intense two-year proving ground in which the online A.R. events boomed for the local community. So much so, that people requested (and we designed and ran) short courses almost back to back, Circling twice a week for 14 months, plus weekly or fortnightly games evenings... And by the end of that we were convinced. Online can be awesome. Currently we still run semi-regular Circles, A.R. Games and short courses (typically 4 Weds eves in a row). The courses are experiential learning environments in community, not specifically 'teaching' environments, although they are fully facilitated.
SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF ONLINE A.R.
As well as being much better human connection spaces that we'd ever presumed, they solve the challenge of geography, cut out travel time, and can be accessed from the comfort of your own home. Adding all that together meant that we even had regular attendees joining us from overseas, the deep countryside, and interstate, which was really wonderful. All that being the case, we decided to keep offering online events.
ATTENDANCE BY INVITATION
Currently we are mainly restricting attendance to people we already know from the A.R. Community, or meet at our in person events (or at other people's online A.R. events). So if we meet you at an event and have the sense that you might like the feel and content of the online workshops, we'll invite you to join that part of the Mailing List. If we have neglected to do that, feel free to tell us you're interested.
This restriction is in place because online is a bit of a different feel of interaction, and having an established connection often means that people drop deeper and feel more relaxed. Plus this environment, as we run and experience it, tends to be more intermediate/advanced A.R., which some can find challenging.
Having said all that, we are open to consider people we haven't met before, who already have some solid A.R. experience. So if you've arrived at this website, don't live in the Coff's/Bellingen area, and don't know us from a bar of soap... BUT you like our approach from what you've read here, and you have some A.R. experience already...
GETTING IN TOUCH
...the best way to get in touch is by joining our Mailing List and selecting the 'Online Events' option. Someone will see this and we will get back to you and arrange to have a Zoom chat. (NOT to 'assess' you; just to make sure we click.')
[The Mailing List is official, and very easy to unsub from if you later change your mind.]
